Air Cooled Modular Chillers

The first way to categorise a chiller is by defining whether it is a vapor compression or vapor absorption type chiller. Arrived at KIG in March 2016 was this nice Trane RTAA 125 Air Cooled Chiller with Dual Rotary Screw Compressors and R22 refrigerant. These are workhorses in the industry if you are familiar with chillers. This unit underwent some cosmetic sheet metal repair due to some slight mishandling during shipping. The unit was completely checked out by a licensed HVAC tech prior to shipping. System uses one 30 hp Scorll compressor, and the newer R407C refrigerant . Each unit was RUN and TESTED thoroughly in our Massachusetts shop prior to shipping. Because this is a split/remote condenser “2 piece” chiller system, this offer was for an untested system as-is. In its present form, the condenser does not have the “low ambient” winter package with fan switching/VFD controls to allow to run in less than 40°F ambient conditions. If you are in the cold winter environment, consult with us on cost to add this, or you can have your local contractor install also.

Treating the water in your system helps cut down on corrosion, scaling, and the growth of biological contaminants such as Legionella. All of these issues can let to a decrease in heat transfer caused by fouling and diminished heat transfer due to build up inside of pipes. It’s important to continually monitor your chilled water loops remotely and visually inspect them annually. This was a nice 15 ton Thermal Care portable Air Cooled Chiller that sold recently. This 460 volt unit was stripped down, cleaned, completely repainted, new controller screen added, and was run and tested for a solid week before shipping. This is an indoor unit, BUT has blower option for added CFM so it CAN BE DUCTED TO THE OUTSIDE. Super for manufacturing or other cooling applications. Depending on your process requirements and temperature, you will get about 11 to 14 tons of cooling out of this chiller.

If you require unlimited cooling water for your industrial application, a natural draft cooling tower may be the right choice for you. Since mechanical fans don’t need to be used in this type of cooling tower, the expenses for operating the cooling tower are lower than what’s necessary for a mechanical draft cooling tower. If you require a system that will effectively cool your food processing unit or power plant, the two main types of systems that can be used for numerous cooling purposes include a chiller and a cooling tower. While both of these systems are designed to remove any heat from a liquid before it’s used as a coolant, there are distinct differences between the two systems that you should be fully aware of. Arrived at KIG in October 2014 was this immaculate and well maintained Trane CGAM series 90 ton Air Cooled Chiller. Unit has less than 9500 total run hours, and see the low hours per compressor below.

With combination of 16 single units of 10, 15 tons, maximum 240 tons can be achieved from a single system. Samsung DVM Chiller enables users to reduce annual utility costs compared to traditional chillers, while the operational modes can be adjusted to allow for seasonal requirements. Design software for DVM Chiller can be found in the “Software Downloads” section. Air-cooled condensers resemble the “radiators” that cool automobile engines.

In contrast a variable speed drive saves energy as it can adjust the speed to match the load. This saves a significant amount of energy in your chiller system. In addition variable speed allows the system to ramp up more smoothly in the case it is turned on in an emergency situation. The simple fact is that the chiller makes up for a significant portion of your electricity usage, even at peak performance. If you’ve got maintenance issues it can easily use an extra 10%, which hurts the bottom line. While technology has improved to remotely monitor chillers and technology has produced more durable and efficient parts, maintenance is still key. Lasers are fast becoming a more common element of production, and one that produces a lot of heat.

After exchanging coldness with room air, which blows across the Air Handling Units (AHU’s) and fan coil units (FCU’s), the water is now warmer at about 12°C (53.6°F). It returns to the evaporator where the refrigerant absorbs the unwanted heat and directs it to the condenser. The chilled water is cool once again and it can now continue to cool the facility. Note how this is called “chilled water” throughout no matter the temperature. Air cooled chillers absorb heat from process water, and the heat is then transferred to the air around the chiller unit. In fact, it’s often practical to use the excess heat to warm a plant during the winter, thus providing additional cost savings. The Phoenix Plus twin-screw chiller also provides large-scale operation, but with regulation and efficiency at its heart.

We ran and tested this unit thoroughly in our 13,000 square-foot chiller facility prior to shipping. Arrived at KIG in October 2015 was this 5 hp / 5 ton Air Cooled Chiller Split w/ Remote Condenser. This is a great solution for a manufacturer, or brewery/winery that wants the heat from the process dissipated outside – and chiller, controls, tank, tank etc. in the facility. It uses a Copeland 5 hp compressor and has hot gas bypass and low ambient feature, so this will operate even when 0°F outside. We can configure & run/test unit in our shop at 28°F for your brewery/winery application; equally as fine for a manufacturing operation which uses higher fluid temps. Although run and tested here, the system required field refrigerant piping installed & charge added, as it is SPLIT with the condenser going outside.
